I hate to admit this but.....

soo..... I was seam sealing my tarp. had it hung but somewhat loosely in the basement between the beams and I did the top first and then the bottom of the middle seam. Then I went back over some of the top again in a second coat. I used sil net. My tarp is sil.

I have about a 8 inch area where the silnet stuck to itself. Its not visible outside but being a purist I'm annoyed ....

Should I try to "unstick it". If so how?

Maybe I should just test it in the raid and make sure it is a good seal and ignore this cosmetic deformity that only I should ever see?

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

    be kind now...........Im ashamed enough...

    cooldays.....

By the way ... I bet i'm not the first to do this....am I?

You might try mixing silnet w/ white gas or paint thinner & brushing it into the stuck area while you work it apart while it's stretched tight.
    Just a thought. No guarantees.

by silnet sticking to itself I can only imagine that some fold of sil fabric is sort of glued together with the silnet. But if that's the case it is going to be visible.

Silnet is not some strong binding agent, you can peel two stuck pieces of sil apart. Perhaps a little scary if you haven't done it, but believe me, silnylon is tough stuff.

I had a similar experience putting sil strips on the floor of my Shire's tarptent, (to help limit the sliding around one ends up doing on a silnylon floor). The floor folded over and glued to itself. I just pried it apart with my fingers.

Come to think of it, Grizz is right. I have had to pull two stuck surfaces apart. I had to pull hard, but it seamed to do no damage.

I once bought a cheapo tent from target, used sil to seam seal the seams. I did a sloppy and I mean sloppy job. After it dried the wall was stuck to the floor in many places. I very gently and not so gently pulled them apart, but then again if it were my new tarp well id be pretty cautious too...
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

I think more of us have done this than will admit. It should pull a part just fine. Just go slow. I would not use any chemical solvents to try and loosen it. It'll be fine

In his book, Ed Speer indicated that Silicone seam sealers have a tendancy to stick to themselves when stuffed, and he recommended some baby powder, but it sounds like you had glued a fold of fabric...

I've used silicone/mineral spirits or naptha twice, but haven't had that issue.

I'm with MM- you need to send it to an experienced hanger for a safety evaluation; if it passes, then you can make another just like it!
