Soft shackles instead of CLs on hammock...

Would there be a good reason not to replace the CLs on a hammock with amsteel soft shackles? There's negligible weight difference. Added flexibility. Right now, for the sake of ease, I have a carabiner at each end of the hammock for when I'm using Daisy chain straps, and those could go away...

A downside might be that you might want even tension on both lines coming off the hammock, depending on how it's attached to the fabric. A shackle should do that, but if you attach only to the loop instead of using the knot, you could be in trouble.

I'm thinking I could still use daisy chain straps easily... and Beetle Buckles, probably?

    Anyway... looking for input. Thanks.

    This may help.

I use soft links as described in the video. They connect to my Whoopies quickly and securely.

    It does, thanks!

    Two things I'm thinking about:
On my WB, or on my HH, the CLs are knotted, so sliding or removing the shackle as shown in the video won't work as easily as with a GE hammock with a single-pass suspension (I don't know how else to call it)... so I suppose the best orientation is with the knot at the extreme end of the loop.
Second, I suppose when using Beetle Buckles, the knot of the shackle will just sit atop the buckle.

This weekend, I actually switched the other way around, I went from Soft Shackles to endless loops. The whoopies were too hard to remove from the shackles the way I had them. With the CL I just larkshead the whoopie to it. YMMV

I recently switched from CLs to these soft links in my system too. Really liking it so far. Much less finicky than an actual soft shackle as well.

Where does one get a soft shackle that size?

Myers has a DIY vid on his channel, but I like Tac Blade's version better because the stopper knot is more secure (will not fail) and much simpler, while the button knot Myers ties is pretty complicated.

To make mine I skipped the part in TBs video where he makes the extra loop in the line for the soft shackle portion of the project. I've made them that way before, but just like other soft shackles they are finicky.

A picture being a thousand words and all....

The one on top is an improved soft shackle done according to the Tac Blades video, and the one on the bottom is a "soft link" or "evo loop" (I've seen different names) without the shackle loop at the end opposite the knot. Really easy to splice, and I really like how useful they are. They are going to make more appearances in my setup, especially my tarp ridgeline soon.
