    Polyester "liner" material

Looking for something a little softer than ripstop for the 'inside' of a sleeping bag/TQ. Not ready to commit the $$ to Momentum just yet. Found some 100% polyester "liner" material that is pretty light and feels much softer than nylon.

Any thoughts on how this would perform?

    Thanks.

Is the sleeping bag going to be down or some other fiber? Make sure it's downproof if using down, otherwise most any material you feel is soft, light and comfortable will be OK if using some other type of fill material.

I haven't used that stuff, but i've considered it. It's what you probably have as the liner on your suit jackets. I don't know the weight per square yard, but it seems fairly light and tightly woven. I can't assert that it's downproof, but my gut feeling is "yes".

There was a time when I wanted nothing to do with "hard" materials in my sleeping bags. Then it came to me in a vision: those "soft" flannels and fleeces were the reason my bags followed me like a puppy whenever I rolled over, resulting in a twisted, tangled mess. I would think that would be less of an issue in top quilts.

I've found that if you wash and dry the ripstop before sewing, it really softens it up a lot. Takes that 'crinkle' out of it. It tends to soften on its own too once it gets used a little while.

Thanks for the thoughts. It's going to be synthetic. No patience for down yet.

As long as it doesn't have to contain down it will be fine, the inside of my first synthetic UQ was liner material. One of the layers should probably have some wind stopping ability though.
