    I started with a skeeter beater pro. just be gentle with it. I put a structural ridgeline on mine and also sewed tie-outs so that I didn't get banana-tized. for $35 you will only need a tarp.

    Still have my grand trunks but ended up getting a dream hammock raven.

    I have one too. did the RL mod. Works well. It's now one of many netted hammocks in the pile, it has a home.

    Jump in the deep end with a cottage hammock. There is no comparison. It is night and day difference.

    I bought a Skeeter Beater several years ago and used it on a three day trip. I soon upgraded to an 11' Dutchware. Regardless of maker, I think you will find your money better spent on a 11' hammock. Of course you could keep the beater for a loaner.
