Can I Use a Biner on a Cinch Buckle?

I know this sounds stupid but I do have my reasoning....I have two sets of straps (an old Eno Atlas strap set) and I want leave one set up all the time outside my house. My new hammock has cinch buckles for suspension. Is there any issue with me throwing on a set of carabiners for when I use it at the house (that way I can just slap the biners onto the Atlas straps that are left outside)? Will this damage the cinch buckle at all or will it put too much strain on the one side of the continuous loop?

That should work just fine. I do something similar on my Warbonnet Ridgerunner and my Tato stand to make it quick to setup.

Would you think there any issues with the fact that it puts all the strain on the one side of the continuous loop? That's what kind of concerns me about using this set up...

I weigh in at 195#'s and mines been used this way for a few years. I did just order a beefier set of CL's (1/8") to make sure they do not break but these things have a very high breaking strength.

I would be a little bit concerned about the straps that are left outdoors.Weather is not your friend.

    Thanks TrailSlug.

Five Tango, ya I never really thought about the straps being outside. Is webbing not that durable when left outside?

I can't honestly say that it is or isn't.Based on what I know about things in general I would be concerned about any stitching first and then the webbing next.Ultraviolet works against some fabrics. The sun can pull a nail out of a fence post-that much I do know......

UV will definitely degrade webbing over time. Polyester holds up better than most though. Strapworks did an interesting endurance test once where they exposed different webbing samples to the elements for a full year to see how they fared.
