    Bug Tent

DIY Bug Tent – Very, very roomy roomy and easy to set up. I made this tent in a similar style as a Mountain Laurel Design Serenity Net, but with a zipper along the ridgeline (similar to the MLD Bug Bivy).

Weight: 10.6 oz. Length: 85.5 inches. Height: 26.5 inches. Width: 37.5 inches. Zipper length: 54 inches.

4 inch bathtub floor made of 1.1 navy blue silnylon. The netting is no-seeum.

Just stake down the four corners and connect the ridgeline tie outs to your poles or tarp. Each corner uses dowels to give a taut pitch for the bathtub floor. (MLD uses a similar approach using “struts” at the corners.) One of the corners is a little wonky (picture included), but everything pitches nice and taut and there are no gaps or holes for bugs to get through. The corners use shock cord attached to the corner for easy set up with stakes.

For reference, that’s me in the tent and I’m 6 ft. tall. The head end attaches with shock cord, which allows you to pull the head down to the ground. To enter, unzip the top, pull the end down and get in; the shockcord then pulls it back into place. The foot end connects with braided mason line.

    Price: $85, includes CONUS shipping.

    PM with any questions.
