just a note of interest, in case you didn't already know.
the layers in that hat make it warm enough that most people choose to only wear it when it's pretty cold or when not active.
I too will something make and joy in it's making

I was thinking about getting an OR Helios to wear. I'm usually not too much for hats when I'm active or when it's really hot outside, but the Helios looks like it has good sun protection. It also looks like it would be pretty comfy, kind of reminiscent of the "boonie" hats we wore when I was in service. I kind of wish I could find my old boonie, but it's cotton and cotton just makes trouble when it's hot.

I'm actually quite fond of my cotton boonie...it wicks pretty well (for being cotton) unless it's just seriously humid out.

I tried the Seattle Sombrero on at my local outfitters and I really liked it. Normally that style of hat doesn't look right on my head, but this one was nice. I had been wanting a rain/sun hat anyway. It might be a little heavy for summer use, but I don't think it would be unbearable.

I am also looking at the Mountain Hardware Epic hat at Sierra Trading post. It looks like a good hat with positive reviews, but I just like to be able to try a hat on before I buy it.

go buy a Tilley hat. It is the only hat that I know of that comes with an owner's manual

I'll second the Tilley recommendation. I have a T4 and like it a lot.

    hats

here's another endorsement for Tilley. Big endorsement.

I had a OR lined rain hat years ago, I think it was the same one being sought. I found it too warm for spring/summer use. For temperature reference, at the time I was living in tidewater Virginia and was using it up in the Shenandoah National Park.

From what I've heard the tilley can be rolled up and stuffed in your pack if not needed. Not sure if the others mentioned can though.

At the Kittery Trading Post in Kittery Maine I was told that the Tilley out sells most any other hat.
