It looks like you would run the webbing through like a Claytor. http://www.mosquitohammock.com/image...HammockEnd.JPG I bought some webbing from Speer and used a short piece through the hem and then tied two rings to that piece. Then I used a long piece to tie to the tree with the carabiner. Assuming the webbing that came with the hammock is like the stock Claytor, the stock webbing will stretch way too much. FWIW

On my DIY hammock I created "sleeves" for webbing or cord to go through. I put two passes of spyder line through the sleeve and then attached a carabiner. (see my gallery if you are confused) I have not had any sagging or stretching issues. I use 1.5" wide polyester webbing from strap works. Before I put the spyderline through the sleeves I used my webbing. It worked great too.
I wouldn't get to worried about the webbing sleeve. I have designed my DIY hammock in such a way that I was able to bounce pretty vigorously on it and not even hear as much as a creak.
I am sure if I can do it then a commercially designed and built hammock could handle it.

    Enjoy!!!

Thanks for the replies. I wasn't sure whether to trust the sleeve or not. I'm thinking now I will thread something other than the webbing that came with it (looks kinda sketchy to me), especially since what is provided is only about 5' long, and go from there.

Basically since everything I saw here used some kind of zip tie or whipping and a larks head behind that, I was thinking that was the best way to go. I'll play with it and see what works.

    ummm, welll... no I haven't.

I went to REI and got Red Dane to help me pick out to something to thread through the hems. She recommended the 400lb accessory cord that I had looked at. I wondered if it would be strong enough. She thought so. When I got home I did one end, basically making a big loop out of it and attaching it to the rings. I just don't like the looks of it. However, I haven't done any research to figure out what will be strong enough.

I'll bring it to the dinner tonight and get some thoughts from the crew there. I know, I'm probably obsessing way too much...

Shadowmoss, you may want to give some consideration to Spyderline available from Annapolis Performance Sailing. I used some 3.8 mm when I first hung my ring buckles on my old ENO SingleNest and the cordage itself worked out great. I know there are several other people here who use Spyderline as well and seem to be pretty setisfied with it. APS has great customer service and pretty good prices. When I ordered from them, I had my Spyderline in hand 3 days from the time I placed my order.

I'd say you're on the right track, Cannibal. It looks a little big to be 9x9 to me.

It's the 9x9. Sure looks like a 12x12 in that shot though.
