Hammock Gear 50 Degree Top Quilt Question

Anyone own a Hammock Gear 50 degree top quilt with 2 ozs. of overfill that can tell me the lower end comfort range? I'll probably just get a 40 degree but was wondering about the 50 with the sewn through baffles. I'm not a hot or cold sleeper and their quilts are pretty spot on for me with their temp rating.

I would get a 30° or 40° and then spring for a CDT for the higher temps.... that's my own kit [w/ 20° UQ and one DIYed from a CDT]
HG's econ are such a great deal, it seems a shame not to go for the baffled for the small extra bucks....

    A 40 deg Burrow weighs 13.75 oz and a 50 weighs 11.75 oz, so a 50 with 2 oz overfill IS a 40!

Has the same fill as a 40, but not the correct baffle size.

A CDT is not a valid alternative. By some standards they may be light weight but it weighs 5oz more than a true UL 50* quilt while the higher fill power and likely WR down will make the UL option more true to temp. 5oz is a lot for some of us with more liberal budgets. I'm only pointing this out because I see this recommendation all the time and it's just not a sound recommendation for someone who is truly UL. The CDT only weighs 2oz less than my 20* top quilt so it's obviously not a true UL option. It is cheap so that's about the only benefit.

I thought about getting a 50 degree burrow, but I eventually decided against it. Here are my thoughts :

I own, and love , my 30 degree burrow. I use it when I hang inside too. My thermostat is set to 66 at nights, and my 30 degree burrow does just fine. I do have to vent it at night so I don't sweat, but to me, that's no big deal. When I go camping and the temperatures are in the 50s, I don't have that problem. Plus, I have a nice buffer that makes me feel pretty safe camping.

Sleeping in 65 + temps while camping, I could easily make due with a very inexpensive cost co down throw.

So, if you really love Hammock Gear, and you just have the money to spare, I'd say go for it. Otherwise, I'd be looking hard at the Costco Down Throw.

I have a 50* UGQ Flight Jacket that weighs 10.35oz. I have had it down to 45* and slept well many times. I took it to 42* and was restless and “fetal” positioned a couple of times to warm back up, but still a decent nights sleep. I have a 20* Burrow so I imagine a 50* Overstuff would go down under 40* without issues.

There's a 50 degree quilt set in the for sale section you might want to check out.

I have a Hammock Gear 20° and 2 DIY Climashield top quilts (1 about 35° and the other at 50°). Just thinking about something more compressible and good to about 40°. Considering a 40° Hammock Gear top quilt or a 50° with 2 ozs of overfill. Thought if I could make the 50° work and save $40, why not. I'm sure the sewn through baffles make it less efficient, but question is to what degree.
