Cuben Fiber Tarp with an integrated ridgeline

I’m in the market for a cuben fiber tarp and know little about the material. Is there a manufacturer who makes this tarp with an integrated ridgeline? If not, is there something about this fabric that prevents making this? I currently use a Superfly from Warbonnet and the integrated ridgeline is one of my favorite features.

What are you referring to as an integrated Ridgeline?

My guess is he's talking about the french seam along the top and the reason for this is the material has to be sewn together where the Cuben Fiber is glued together not requiring this seam.

I assume you're talking about the grosgrain over the french seam on the Superfly ridge. That's not really a ridgeline (a ridgeline is a piece, or two pieces of rope, for connecting the tarp to the trees).

Since cuben fiber is taped, there is no need for that. There's no grosgrain anywhere on a cuben fiber tarp.

I like the grosgrain ridgeline on the Superfly because it acts as a part of the ridgeline and so I can run the tarp nice and tight without risking harm to the silnylon. I’ve heard with cuben fiber you need to be careful not to string it up too tight on the ridgeline because it could cause damage to the cuben fiber. Is this something I should be concerned about?

I've never heard that, and I've had a cuben fiber tarp for about five years now. I do prefer a Dutch continuous ridgeline rather than adding rope to each end.

I like the Dutchware continuous ridgeline. Do you use the prussic version or the Tato version? What’s the benefit of one over the other?

I have no place anywhere in my hammock system for shock cord, so I don't use the Tato tarp connectors. I've just always found shock cord to be ineffective and want nothing to do with it. You especially don't need shock cord with cuben fiber, though some argue it's good for silnylon tarps (I also don't use shock cord on my silnylon tarp - didn't do anything for me).

Plenty of folks love shock cord, though! Shug uses shock cord on his cuben fiber tarp, as I recall.

Cuben fiber is such a strong material there's no need for shock cord. Silnylon stretches, that's why people use shock cord with those tarps. It takes up the slack of a stretching tarp under stress to keep it taught. Cuben fiber has no stretch and it doesn't absorb water at all. I have a cuben fiber tarp and can get that thing tight as a drum with no problem.

Some of us think its a good idea to have shock cord integrated onto the guy lines so it will give a bit should someone trip on your lines.
When used with cuben tarps it is there to absorb some of that shock.I like a piece of shock cord tied onto all my guylines as I "pinky wrap" them and use the shock cord attached to the end to wrap and tie off the wrapping.
