Wife and I go for a hang. I've remembered everything. I'm certain.
Traveling along.
Oh crap, I forgot the spreader bar.
This would amount to a very rough night of sleep.... For me. My wife kicks like Bruce Lee.
I looked around for sticks and nadda. The beetle buckles would be useless without a spreader bar.
I've heard of folks using reinforced hiking poles as spreader bars in Bridge hammocks, but never for the wide spreader bar on a tandem hang. And never just a plain old hiking pole. I didn't feel like a thin aluminum hiking pole would stand up to the forces involved.
I came up with this.
And the overall view.
The double poles worked like a charm. Tied off to the continuous loops with the handle and resting on the basket of the bottoms. It was really very stable and very adjustable. If you ever forget your spreader bar on a tandem hang, you could give it a try.
My wife and I are on the lighter end of the spectrum.
Hope this is helpful to someone in the future.
