On the several times I've been out there, always had at least a day below 8000', and always had a raging headache that day. Never any other day. Not while camping at 10500, not at 13K. But it affects folks differently, so that's the real thing to mentally get prepared for, the unknown. But I wouldn't anticipate it being a trip-ruining thing.

Wish I could join in, but my days this year are spoken for. Maybe next year.

Yep, the unknown! I have made so many trips over the years to WY camping between 9500 and 11000. Sometimes I struggled more than others, but then there was that one time--- whew! Bad! Real bad! EDIT: actually, that was also the time of my 1st hammock use, an HHSS. It is a wonder I stuck with hammocks. That would have been enough learning curve without throwing severe altitude sickness into the mix.

I was looking through some old pictures and found this. Just a teaser of some of the views from Lost creek wilderness, ( Pikes peak in the distance). This picture was taken just above Goose creek trail.059.jpg

Potentially interested, it really just depends what dates get slotted. I have a couple trips already in the chute, so that will make timing key to a decision. But it sounds fun if it works out favorably.

I’d be interested in this as well, plus the dates look good to me.

Any updates on this? My ever changing situation may allow me to tag along... perhaps a friend who owns a billion hammocks as well.

I abandoned the idea a while ago as the thread went dormant. Probably doing a high alpine lake trip instead. Interested? Shoot me a PM.
