To be fair I guess we could have taken the reigns. I'm not sure if permits are needed or whatever.

I was just up in Lost Creek last weekend for a quick out’n’back overnight. No permits were required, but there is a (free) self-register station when entering the wilderness area.

I’m definitely down for a long weekend, if there’s interest, even willing to drive and coordinate.

One surprise, I should mention. The temp at the trailhead was about 90°, then about 5am in the hammock it registered at 30°. So, prepare for cold nights, and drastic temperature changes!

I'm heading up there middle of next month to do some ham radio stuff on South Tarryall Peak and Lake Park Peak. Out of curiosity, what's the water situation on the western end (Hankins Pas area)? Poked the Ranger District, but they haven't responded yet.
