CL Mod - concerns about rough edges rubbing Amsteel

So, I just completed the fairly typical Dutchware continuous loop mod on my HH Explorer Zip.

When I removed the original ropes, I found that the two holes at each end of the hammock had a rough edge to them (from where they melt the holes). I’m a little concerned that these rough edges will wear on the Amsteel over time. I tried to clean them up a bit, but wondered if anyone else has experience with this?

If my description above isn’t clear, let me know, and I’ll try to post some close-up pictures.

Being new to hanging, I’m nervous about anything related to suspension wearing out or possibly failing at inopportune times

I replaced the ropes on a similar Hennessy hammock with Amsteel whoopies a couple of years ago, and it still works fine with no wear issues. From what I have seen Amsteel is incredibly tough and generally shows obvious wear only after serious abuse and still well before it's going to give. Unless you are a particularly heavy hanger I wouldn't worry about it. Good luck...

There is no movement in the CL once it is cinched down and set. You'll be fine.

I agree with the other posts.
I changed my Hennessy to CL, and have no problems.

There is something more. You can't just put the amsteel though the holes and support off of it. You need to make it so the amsteel ig gripping the entire end of the hammock between the loops. You will need a 15 inch loop. Here are some vids that will help...

    Peace Dutch

Thanks Dutch for the pointers. This is exactly what I’ve done with 15” loops.

As gargoyle commented - once it was cinched down, there appears to be no movement. I’ve been hanging with it (indoors) for a few weeks now and it looks great.
