    Winter Wonder Woods Walk

Was able to slip away for a night alone up in Finland, Minnesota in George Crosby Manitou State Park which is a backpack only park.
Sunny and not a cloud in the sky.
    Down to 2º at night.
Sleeping in the updated Warbonnet XLC with Wooki and UQP and Minifly tarp. JRB High Sierra Sniveller TQ. So nice and toasty.
I'm glad I took time to go.

Thanks for taking us along Shug. I've watched half of your trip and will finish tonight. Really enjoy. I haven't camped in conditions like you are experiencing, snow depths and frozen rivers/lakes, etc. but I appreciate your perspectives on doing it right and safely. I'm not experienced with frozen rivers and the risks of getting water from a frozen river but it must be treacherous particularly when out there alone so your advice is good for me. Thanks for sharing.

My gut tells me not to go out there to fetch water.

You are a hearty soul indeed, glad you got out. Yea snow's still a PIA but you can't beat the weather or the quiet. Got out on the NCT behind my property Friday, just too pretty to resist.

This was an outstanding video -- even for you, sir -- a very enjoyable experience you were able to capture. Lots of good information too for those who camp in the frozen wilds like you do. I am glad you took the time and had such a good overnight trip. Looking forward to sharing this one with my daughter soon -- who, by the bye, may be your biggest fan. Whoooo buddy!!!!

You got me curious, what is it that you should be doing winter camping?

I truly needed the peace I found out there. It was fun to sit and chat and know I was the only one out there.

Maybe be toting 100 pounds and be in a tent or quinzee. I think the hammock part confuses some of the old time campers.
Oh, and fire. I'm just too lazy to do all that work sometimes. No it is so nice to have and if out for a while I would for sure. But by myself I just don't want to rely it.

Great looking trip. It’s nice to have a spot to go unwind and be outdoors. And I enjoyed the in depth discussion on winter camping.

Great winter hammock video. I enjoyed it. I agree about the double layer WBBB XLC. I upgraded my 1.7 oz single layer to the light weight double late last year and I think it's much more comfortable. I also like the new zipper system much better.

Thanks for sharing. This was nice to watch on a dreary Sunday morning.

I personally find you more hardcore for doing it without the benefit of the canvas tent and wood stove. Doing the -40 Ely trip only depending on your gear to keep you warm at night and you lived? I think you win.
