Winter Hammock Shelter Marnoc Mark 1

The Mark 1 is a shelter i made from silnylon that I purchased from Dutchware Gear. it is 11.5 feet long and about 8 feet wide. I used nylon webbing and D rings for all 10 of the tie out points. I used it this weekend in 20 degree weather. Worked great. I used small s biners to close the door flaps together.

Not bad for a first build. It weights 1 pound including the ridgeline and guy lines.

Nicely done! Looks like a well thought out project. Plenty of room in there even without poles, which is great.

I read your post in another thread that you used a Dutchware Winter Sock in conjunction with your SnugPak underquilt/blanket. Did you feel comfortable with that setup in 20deg weather?

I have the SnugPak underquilt/blanket, and 30-ish does seem like the lower limit, at least for me. 20-ish would make sense if you are using the winter sock like you did.

Yes I was quite warm. I slept in fleece pajama pants wool socks and a hooded sweatshirt. It was a bit warmer if you turn the vent to the bottom and essentially close it, but that will cause some condensation issues. With the vent open I was warm enough to be comfortable and didn't have much condensation. I still plan on building a pod style cover for even colder weather.

I also have the SnugPak Hammock Cocoon, which works kind of like a pod system. I have stacked the cocoon with the underquilt to get down to the lower single digits. The cocoon is a little bit fiddly, but it does work. Prices on Amazon for the cocoon vary, but I paid $49.50 for it.
