    Help end a debate.

So I have a couple friends getting into hammocking and they already “know more then me” and are arguing if they lay right or left. They don’t believe me so I need some help educating my buddies. If your feet go left and your head to the right what direction would you be laying? Left or right?

I like to go to the sources. A quick search of V1 of The Ultimate Hang didn't turn anything up.

Since I am a Warbonnet guy I found this from pgilbson in the forums: "The Black Bird as is standardly sold as a righty....feet to the right."

And this as well on the Blackbird XLC page: "It also comes in a standard-lay configuration, for a user to lay head left/feet right, but the updated zipper configuration on the new model allows the user to simply remove the top, flip it inside out, and re-configure the hammock as a reverse lay model, with the head right and feet left instead."

I think it might be less confusing to say standard and reverse. Standard feet to the right; Reverse feet to the left.

The foot side determines the nominal direction of the the hammock lay, ergo left.

There are probably a lot of reverse-handed people out there who would challenge this... LOL

It's not if your feet are right or left of your head it is how you are oriented to the front of the hammock that matters.

It seemed logical to me when first getting into hammocking that right-left would be determined by head position.

However I nearly tripped over that when I ordered my DH Darien and saw that left-right were designated by foot position. Whew, glad I spotted that in time!

Simply Light Designs removes all doubt by listing the options as "Head right/Feet left" or "Head left/Feet right"

I've also read that, statistically — and by a rather large margin, right-handed people tend to prefer Head left/feet right. However, I am right-handed and vastly prefer Head right/feet left. Go figure.
