    Yep, ...
You'll convert yourself ... I too am a member from "Backpacking Light.com" and from "Practical Backpacking.com" ... Yet, I have enjoyed and dove in head first to hammock camping. Even with the little extra weight it all comes out to the good when you get a good nights sleep in the woods. You will be surprised.

Just think of a hammock as an air "couch" - nice and comfy... but portable!

    Welcome.

thank you all for the warm welcome

Well, it seems an open mind is in order. If I get the chance to try one, I will certainly give it a go. Before I ask all the "newbie" questions, I will spend some time searching the forums for Ultralight recommendations and the like. As I spend almost all my backpacking time in the Sierra- that would be my preferred set up if there is such a thing.

    "couch"

Yes, as the name implies...I do indeed love my down time...not where the name came from though. Have to talk to the "Misses" on that one The email address says it all, "onthecouchagain" but that is another story for another day.
