    morrison trail

Hey, Going to hike and backpack the Morrison trail, my first time there, in the Allegheny National forest April 7 -9 I see some of you have gone there. Looking for good place to put up camp and a couple of hammocks. Does the Morrison campground have enough trees being on the waterfront or is there a better option. Any advice would be cool.

I can't speak to much to the campsites at Morrison campground because I only checked out a couple of the sites there and didn't spend much time. I'm sure you could find some hammock friendly sites there if you wanted. Others I'm sure can give you more details. I know there were some people you hiked in and camped in the campground the second night of the 2017 winter hang. What I can tell you is there are a ton of good places to hang along Morrison Run. There is also a good site along Campbell Run that I pointed out in this post. I think the best place to hang on the entire trail though is where the 2017 winter hang was at. Which is about .5 miles from the trail head around 41.857599,-78.899527.

agreed, I'd stay about 500 yards or more away from the campground, they are pay sites, but you can camp for free just about anywhere else in the area (except along the shoreline).
