Motorcycle trip down the Blue Ridge Pky out to the Dragon

I'm planning a trip down the BRP this fall. Looking for campgrounds that are hammock friendly and I can park my bike close by.
Also If you have any great places to check out please let me know.
    Thanks

How much of the BRP are you planning to do?
    I collect vintage camp stoves.
    I roast coffee at home.

I've done the entire BRP a few times and I've always stayed at Julian Price Campground. It has plenty of trees but it can be surprisingly difficult to find a campsite with properly spaced trees to hang. There are a few other campgrounds around that area but I've never stayed at them.

If you head down south far enough don't forget to hit route 226a in north carolina. Hands down one of the best motorcycling road I've ever been on.

The campground at Crab Tree Meadows / Falls is really nice. We hammocked there with no problems.

The Cherohala Skyway is an excellent route in that area as well.

Now that’s a post title that caught my eye. 2 of my favorite things. The one time I was able to motorcycle the BRP we rented a cabin in Townsend. I need to slay the dragon again.

Pisgah campground is nice. Close to the Pisgah Inn for a meal. A nice store there, too.
I have not yet set up a hammock there, but there are a LOT of trees.
    I collect vintage camp stoves.
    I roast coffee at home.

Linville falls has a camp ground not far from Julian Price, also you can camp along the road off Kistler highway at the Gorge.

The motorcycle only campgrounds all have hammock camping.Starting in the south, down hill from Pisgah is Blue Ridge Cycle Camp. On site coffee in the morning food on site sometimes but within five miles to food. Next is High Country between Boone and Wilkesboro. Maybe coffee in the mornings-Brent (the owner) has brought a pot down to talk and drink last time I was there. It is a long ways to anything so come prepared and find directions on the website because your GPS will likely put you in the middle of a cornfield. Meadows of Dan Virginia is home to Willville. It is close to food, gas and other items. All run around $15.00 per person per night.
BRP is managed by the park service which provides campgrounds. Only Pisgah has showers. They do allow hammocks as of last year. They are maybe $20.00 per site per night with 50% discount with golden age.
Visitor centers have a magazine-like publication with listings of attractions off the parkway including food, fuel and camping. These are private campgrounds and will vary with pricing and restrictions on hammocks. The website has a real time map with any closures. Fall does bring leaf lookers but I seldom experience much traffic during the week.
BRP has become my travel road going from northeast to southwest. There are many good roads on both sides, both paved and gravel. Speed limit is 45 max with reductions around busy areas. Asheville commuters use the parkway during rush hour judging by the traffic then. Ask questions on Adventure Rider forum nearer departure time and get local knowledge.
We need a hammock campout for riders somewhere along the parkway this summer.
Hope you have a great trip.
