    I would always recommend getting some. +1oz in all the quilts I have, maybe 2oz in one of them. It doesn't hurt to make sure the down has a better chance of staying uniform in the quilt. Great $8 peace of mind, or whatever it's running these days.

    I don't see it as making a 40° a 35° in theory at all; rather a guarantee you don't have thin spots with little or no down. Just keeping a 40° quilt a true 40°. Plus you factor in dampness hurting loft, wear and tear, etc. It's only going to lose loft if anything over the years.

    I'll second this. When the down is thin it makes for potential cold spots. Overfill is cheap.

    Huh. I find that after I hike long distances my bodies ability to generate heat diminishes and I catch a chill very easily. As they say HYOH and slide that baby off to the side.
