Very nice hammock- and very cool straps!
My very first diy hammock was made with that fabric. I LOVE it !
I wish I had lots and lots of that fabric. It's really got a nice feel to it, not to mention the stealthy-cool camo!
Very nice indeed!

Nice. Just made my first hammock and am going to steal the footbox straps idea.

I am not at all surprised with what I have seen on this thread.
From what I have seen, Randy is creative, imaginative, a pretty good guy all around and a great dad too. He also makes an awesome pie.
Thank you for the kind words,,,,,,I told Alan, that I need to go to the DOC, and get things checked,,,,,, I just don't get excied no more.......
When I drive by Academy,,,,,,,,,,,or Bass Pro,,,,,,
I went to Hancock Fabrics 3 times last week,,,,,
One day I went to 4 different Walmarts in Houston ,,,, just to look in the fabric departments, and 1 Walmart in Hunstville.....
I have been sleeping in these hammocks,,so often,,, Baby Momma ,,,, actually asked me to sleep with her at least one night a week.....she was thinking I was sneaking off and up the road to see the widow lady every night..... she said,,,, NO BODY, grabs a sleeping bag and heads out the door whe it is 30 degrees out, and expects to be believed they are "sleeping out" ALL THE TIME...
She even made me carry my SPOT Tracker one night, so she could check on me during the night....
Alan, I am glad you like it,,,, Hope it helps out on that gear ya had to move last week........

I really appreciate it, Randy. Very kind of you.
It's an awesome DIY hammock and I'm diggin' the digi camo material. The material's not slick like my Blackbird and it's certainly not like the oxford nylon on an HH Exped. Sort of a marriage of the two.
Sweet! Me likes that hammock. And as the others have said, the straps on the foot box are ingenious. I too will copy those into my DIY hammock. Enjoy that sweet rig.

More observations...
As we were talking yesterday afternoon, Randy indicated that he used some grip clips on the sides of his DIY for temporary pull-outs to really open things up...so that's always an option to add later. If I like it, he said he could sew in some small loops on each side. All I'd have to add is some bungie and run them to the stakes on the ground (....stakes on the ground...lookin' like a champ with my stakes on the ground. )
He's thinking about sewing some sort of small pocket up at the head end to keep small items within reach. Neat idea.
The cam buckle straps work VERY well and adjust quickly. No stretch at all. Randy has been using them on his setups for some time with great luck and without any adverse affect over the long haul. Since we are proud pound hawgs...we don't worry about how much they weigh...but they really aren't all that bad.
His hammock end lashing method is simple and works nicely. No slip, and the larks head from the webbing tightens down hard once you climb in.
Let's revisit the lack of a center ridge, or spine...that's like the Holy Grail of gathered end hammocks. How was that achieved?

Hey, Randy and/or Alan:
Waiting to hear exactly which fabric this is?
It's a mystery! I think it's a function of how Randy gathered/folded the ends. All I know is that it's freaky. I keep expecting to get in and be bothered by that darn center ridge underneath my knees/calves...but it just ain't there!
Randy will have to answer this one for sure but I could swear he said he got the fabric at Wal-Mart. He'll have to provide details as to exactly what it's made from.
