    "Texas Special" hammock by Randy

Woooohooooooooo! I just took personal delivery of a new hammock made by one of our very own: Randy!

One of a kind hammock, baby! Oh yeah!

    Pictures first:

    Yes, it's digital camo material!

    The ends:

    Cam buckle straps

Loop already sewn at other end. Just added a carabiner...

Foot end comes with fabric strips. Can tie them together to make a "footbox" which helps prevent top quilts or sleeping bags from falling out.

    Tied together...

Those foot box straps are clever. Nice looking hammock.

This thing is long, wide, stealthy, and comfy! Works well either lengthwise or asym. Thing I found most interesting, and I'm not sure how Randy managed it, is that there is zero ridgeline material that typically runs underneath along the backs of your knees/calf muscles. None of that with this hammock.

I'll let Randy provide the specs on the material he used, as well as other process details.

All I can say is that this thing is WAY cool!
    You da man, Randy!
I can't thank you enough. Really. Very kind of you!

Now, got to log off for now. I've got some hangin' to do!

    (More details to follow...)

Randy said he's going to use some black material to make sort of an end cap to hide the ends of the hammock to give it a finished look. Sort of like those little end cap fabric things on each end of a Hennessy hammock.

Time to go dig out the ECW bag and take more pictures.

I put the ECW bag inside hammock for these pictures.

Nice job Randy!!! You could put a ridge line up when you know your going to do the cocoon to lift the material up some.

    The footbox straps are ingenious!

The only caveat here is that it's best to wait and tie the footbox straps that are above the knees once you get into the hammock. The straps at the very end can stay tied since they aren't put under any strain while entering or exiting the hammock.

Once in and situated, the tie straps above the knees can then be tied...if needed.
