    11’ tarp for 11’ hammock?

I attach my 11’ hammock with continuous loops to whoopie slings using a biner. When I set it up with my 11’ ridgeline tarp the biners tend to end up outside the tarp. Will I get wet from water coming in by the suspension lines? If yes, would a drip line tied on the continuous loops keep this from happening?

Possibly. I'd recommend backyard testing. I'd also recommend going for a 12' ridge line to get rid of the worry of blowing rain.

A drip-line should keep water from getting to your hammock.

How big are your biners or how long are the CLs? With an 11' tarp and an 11' hammock you should have about 10" of clearance inside the tarp on each end of your hammock.

The CLs seem pretty long. They were the standard length from Dutch with my hammock. My first thought was to make smaller loops.

Do you have a ridgeline on your hammock? If not; adding one would shorten your hammock length a bit.

Yep. Definitely have a ridgeline. The hammock ends have what seems to be sufficient clearance under the tarp, it’s just CL and biner that extend beyond the tarp edge. I watched your video, which made me think of just tying on a drip line and seeing how that worked.

Understand that a tarp with a longer ridgeline may have to be hung higher to not interfere with the hammock suspension, so bigger isn’t always better.

I use both 11' and 12' tarps with my 11' hammock... Have stayed dry thus far.

Drip lines as others have said.

My CL's are 8" and I don't use a carabiner. The end of the CL just makes it to the edge of the 11' tarp.
Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....

It doesn't really matter as long as you offset it a little like this:

I probably could have moved the hardware to make the "v" larger and get the strap thru there, but this was just as easy. Of course there's a point where it can simply be so long that it hits the suspension no matter what, but that would be a crazy sized tarp.
