    Happy birthday to me!

Today I received a gift card for my birthday which provided me with enough funds to purchase a WBBB.

Brandon returned emails rather quickly and was able to work with me in splitting the payments among different gift cards to allow me to make the purchase. He even adjusted the original amounts we discussed when Paypal dinged the cards for "verification fees" as they were added to my account.

I now have three cards that will eventually have just a few dollars on each when Paypal finally refunds the fees, but more importantly I will soon have a Blackbird in my hands. I imagine I can always go to REI and burn through the remainder of the balances on the cards to get 'biners and such.

Brandon, thank you so much for your help. The day started out crummy but it sure ended on a high note.

Don't forget the tarp and guylines. Go with a good one, just like you did with the hammock, and you'll never need to upgrade.

I've already begun saving again. Since I'm more of a car camper weight isn't as much of an issue, though I'd like to start backpacking again. For now I'm going to make do with a Harbor Freight tarp and fluorescent mason's line for guylines. They're both inexpensive, readily available and will meet my needs until I can get "proper" equipment.

Just happened to notice an email indicating that it was shipped this afternoon.

Since it's to be delivered to my office I won't see it until next week.

Hmmm. I wonder if it could be rigged to hang from some cubicles? Might make a nice place to take a break.

Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.
