HYOH Podcast - Episode 31 (Bonefire and Sheltowee)

This month, Mark and Jonathan get a rare opportunity – we chatted with competitors Alex Gash from Sheltowee Hammocks and Jeremy Puskas from Bonefire Gear at the same time. While competitors, Jeremy and Alex are good friends and shared a lot about their experience in business, and the special considerations about insulated hammocks, their advantages and disadvantages, and what got them into hammock camping in the first place. After that, we talked a little about trail names, and finally asked Jeremy and Alex about what’s important to them.

After the interview, Mark and Jonathan talk Gaiters and other “hikers” apparel that you might not see anywhere else.

    Show Notes:

Here’s a link to a thread on the hammock forums documenting a stacking calculator.

Here is where you can go to learn more about the Hangtime Hook, which we covered in an earlier episode.

What was the background noise during the interview? It sounded like a dog chewing on a bone

Yeah, I couldn't listen. Sheltowee children playing with Tupperware? Too annoying.

The background noise went away after a few minutes. Great episode as always.

It was my dog chewing on her bone. She was on lap rest with her broken toe.

Once Zoe (my dog) calmed down the nose went away, until she started talking at the end. I was surprised how much of the noise transferred over the mic. I'm sorry about that.

To those who noticed Zoe - I tried to filter it out but lost too much of Jeremy's voice, so I decided to let it be. I wonder if it would make more sense to add in a quick disclaimer?

I thought someone was playing ping pong or air hockey, LOL! Regardless, great episode, as always. Enjoyed hearing from both of them. Keep up the great work!

The disclaimer may be helpful. I’d hate for folks to miss the whole conversation over a couple of minutes of a dog being a dog. Thanks for all you and Mark do to put the podcast on!

Thanks for the feedback. I've updated the audio with a quick disclaimer in front of the intro. Ah, the things we do for love!
