Got the wife hooked on hang!

Took the wife out to camp. Luckily the weather was great out here in PA. We found two trees real close so we could talk before going to sleep. She loved it and slept very warm all night. It got down to about low 50s, so it was a perfect first time hang for her. Now she's hooked she has a grand trunk double but when she woke up she layed in my chameleon wide from Dutch and she's like well now you can buy me one of these it's soooo much better lol. Well now it's more reason to buy more gear! Going to get her a chameleon and we will use the double Dutch system. Now it's time to find some trials to hit and backpack with her.

Great. My wife loves sleeping in her RidgeRunner. Its a shame that there are not more couples who hang together. Of course I tell her that any new gear I am ordering is to keep her warm and comfortable. I think she has figured it out and told me not to order any more hammocks
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

Congrats. My GF's idea of camping, or "roughing it," is limited to cabins with hot tubs.

Way to go, Danny. A Chameleon is definitely a nice present for your wife, along with the promise of time together. Mine loves hers (when I'm not taking it somewhere myself. I suggest you consider one of the new Print2Fabric patterned hammocks or accessories for her, just to make hers really unique.

Awesome news. Nothing better than a passion you can share with your better half. Am grateful every time the wife and I hit the woods. We hang side by side in our chimera. We love it.

You mentioned two trees close together and the photo shows you both use the same tree on one end. But I see that the suspension of one hammock is sort of coming off the center of the tree. So remember that you can sleep next to each other with just two trees. The trick is to run your hammock suspension so instead of coming off the center of the trees, it comes off the side - one hammock on each side of the tree. So your suspension/hammocks will be separated by at most, the diameter of the tree.

Though they don't like to talk about it, my experience is the thing that keeps women from enjoying the outdoors more is the whole bathroom/hygiene thing. So if you can assure privacy, hand sanitizer, hole digging materials (or dig one before hand) and the person actually knows how to do it - maneuver clothes, etc. that might go a long way into moving an adventure into the realm of possibility. Be sure to point out how the hammock is more night time critter/snake secure than a tent. Play the YouTube video from Lord of the Rings that shows the incantation used to keep spiders at bay, etc.

Congrats, that double dutch system is really neat. We got to watch alot of people try it out at the Florida Hangcon this past January.

Don't forget the sidcars, ridgeline organizer and her own Dutch bling.
