    Hammocks appearing more and more

I was just flipping through the new NRS (Northern River Supply) Spring 2010 Catalog and saw a 1/2 page hammock advert (pp 54) for Eno Double and Single nest hammocks. The caption reads "Relax!" and the sub-text reads "Dave catches a few Z's along the Smith River, MT" with an image of a guy in a ball cap relaxing in his hammock. It looks like he has it hung with the head too high but other than that its a pretty cool advert since it spreads the gospel.

I thought that hammocks were very rare around my neck of the woods but in one of the local outfitting stores they have a small rack of Eno hammocks and supplies and there is a local guy making some type of hammock that him and his buddies are using at the ski hill for a winter camp. You just never know whats out there.

the local REI used to carry eno and byer, and hh. now, i cant find anything in store. either they were all purchased, or didnt sell at all.

related news: be careful how many you convert.. now i go on hikes with all the converts i know, and we have to fight for trees.

rei still has ENO and HH, in stock and in the my local rei store. ENO seems like they are in every NC outfitter store, but they are located in NC so it only make sense.

I agree. If and when hammocks really enter the mainstream I fear that the areas of the country with scarce trees will have problems and more importantly the parks may start limiting or forbidding hammocks as a threat to those trees.

Be careful what you wish for.

Most all the outfitters around here have ENO hammocks... REI, Gander Mountain and Cabela's I believe. Not sure about ****'s Sporting Goods.

I think hammocks will be like unicycles in a bike store .......
You will see them here and there and most will be basic but truly I think we and our hammocks will not become the mainstream. For that, I am sorta glad. Most just want poles and a floor.
