I just want to get it right! (for me)

I had a DD hammock from the group buy, and got to sleep in it once, then my son lost in a tornado like wind storm at a concert he was working at. (Better the hammock than him!) I am wanting to replace it with either the DD FL, or the Claytor. I am not sure if the shorter wider DD is better, or the longer narrower Claytor is better. Any ideas? They work out to about the same in Canadian Dollars, when talking about using the regular DD tarp, or the diamond fly.

I like the idea of two zippers, but that is not the deal breaker, as I have only been used to the one before.

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.\

John, the first hammock I bought was a Claytor. I still use it a lot, and don't regret the purchase. Having said that, it is narrow, and doesn't allow for much of a diagonal lay. Trade-offs...

I prefer my DD Frontline over my Claytors. I like my No-Net Claytor, but that's probably because I can cheat and let my feet dangle over the edge a bit.

Thanks, Cannibal and Oldgringo. I think I have finalized that I will get the DD hammock, because I have slept in one before, had no problem with the shorter by 1 foot hammock, and seem to do well with the extra width. The extra zipper would also be handy, especially if I want a pea pod, or some such cold weather device. I think I will get the DD tarp as well, as it seems to have many tie outs, and slightly larger than the Claytor Diamond. I am anything but a gram weenie. I too should have the signature line of proud pound dawg, seeing as how my first hammock was the HH safari.

These fellers are making a nice double zip hammock.http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=11138
I'd give them a serious look before pulling the trigger on a DD. And they are members of HF.

hmmm length of the Claytor, width of the DD, and N American made. two zippers, and what looks to be great workmanship. How are they for delivery times? The one thing the Claytor and DD have is fast turn around.

You are absolutely right. We can keep on going around the bush forever. I like the looks of this hammock. I may well be doing things in reverse of you.
