    DISHONEST Grand Trunk Hammock Stats.

So I just purchased a GT Double as their website claimed that the length was 11ft. Apon discomfort and some measuring of the hammock, I find that its only 9.5ft! They are including their continual loop and carabiner as part of the 11ft.... Not sure if everybody knew this already or not but i had no idea, and now i have to return it.

Yea I mentioned it often but buried in other threads over the years. My single is a 10' even though it said 10.5. Loops included

I opened it up flat and measured against my SLD 10' tree runner.

guess i'll have to measure my double but I see no reason it's different than your observation above.

On some ENO hammocks in the past I've read about variability in lengths. Many 10 foot hammocks ended up being 9.5 feet give or take a few inches. A 1.5 feet difference is a hell of a misleading spec. Any fine print anywhere?

That was the story of my first hammock experience as well... same product/ same misleading info. HOWEVER! Trying to get the facts was what got me the Hammock Forums!

Sub-10'ers are fine as day-hangers, but I want something longer for sleeping. [And I found I hate the three piece, strip constructions as well]

Nope, no fine print on the matter mentioned anywhere.

This seems a fairly common practice amongst Chinese hammock manufacturers. They've gotta trim their margins somewhere, it's a struggle to pump out hammocks for $5 a piece. Hence, cutting them short, and using the three panel design to take advantage of cheap, narrow cloth.
What gets me is the amazing mark-up that the resellers make!
