Any of these fabrics are great, and superior to most tent fabrics with HH ratings on average to only 1200 mm. I believe the minimum HH rating for the above mentioned fabrics are 1500 mm. I also only have experience with the silpoly that is carried by OES. I bow to the experience/opinions of Kitsap Cowboy, as he is the master tarp DIYer, and I just buy premade gear.

    thanks for all the feedback
i am now more confused then ever
as for the go kelty route or others (i already have a kelty)
i also have a superfly which i love, even more so with my center pole mod
now what i am after is the widest tarp (=-) in a 12' length, with doors
i know that my superfly is slylon and i wanted to try the silpoly on this tarp
as i have a friend who has one in silpoly and his seems to dry out much faster after a rain
if there was not so many choices, i wouldn't be this confused
its a large $ purchase and i want to do it right this time.....
this tarp will only be used for winter and rainy trips, on motorcycle and car
i think if i can get the silpoly in olive green or coyote brown i am going that route
