Why not attach suspension directly to hammock?

Obviously this is very specific to suspension system.

Straps w/Beetle buckles, Daisy chains, etc would not have this question. But for UCR's/ Whoopees etc. Any reason not to attach them directly to the hammock? I still have my CL running through the hammock with a carabiner to attach it to the UCR/Whoopee. This then goes up to the Marlin spike hitch on the tree strap. Do I keep it that way just because that is the way the hammock came??? Who Knows. Only drawback I could see is dealing with the loose lines when folding the hammock up. The ridgeline causes some annoyance if not captured in the folds of the hammock while putting it away.

Shug's Black bishop bag video shows a nice way of keeping them attached. What is your method of using whoopee/UCRs at the hammock end?

Most of us have been hanging our suspension direct to the hammock as the norm for years. There is nothing wrong with doing it that way....I personally have never seen a need to add a loop and extra hardware to the system. Whoopie strait to the hammock with a Marlin Spike on the strap works, it's simple and needs less gear to accomplish.

There are a hundred ways to skin a cat and even more ways to hang a hammock. I beckett hitch my straps directly to the CL on the hammock and forgo widgets and gizmos altogether. Before whoopee hooks and hammock fan thingies and every other doodad out there, the loop on whoopee slings was larksheaded directly to the hammock in lieu of the CL. My emergency hammock in my car (you never know when you'll need an emergency nap) is still set up that way.

It’s completely your choice how you rig your crib

Some factors for choosing suspensions and ridgelines can be
Ease of use, speed of setup and break down
    Cost
    Weight
    Bulk
    Durability
Ability to keep wet suspension away from——
    hammock
Cool factor and how it looks
Modular ability to be used with different hammocks and tarps
    Wear prevention when in backpack
No parts can be lost or no, your choice
Using what works for you and what you are used to and can set up in darkness and light drizzle

Like Paul said. It was the norm for years.

Why not attach suspension directly to hammock?

My hammock has a gathered ball on each end.
Gathered with light non weight bearing cord.
I larkshead amsteel suspension around hammock just below gathered ball. Not all hammocks are made with gathered ball.
I’ve always try to eliminate any unnecessary parts to my gear——except of course coffee...

My cinch buckles are each sewn to a webbing loop which is larksheaded to the gathered end of my hammock. Tree straps go around the trees and into the buckles. Easy peasy!

Thank you all for the input... And Grappler that is some of the most sound advise I've heard.

I actually prefer to have my suspension in a separate bag because if it rains I don’t want my wet whoopies/UCRs stored with my hammock.

Also there is a lot of pine where I hang. I try to avoid hanging on it but sometimes I don’t have a choice. So sappy straps are in a separate bag.

I'm a big fan of Duitch Whoopie Hooks. Hang the whoopies, attach hammock via Whoopie Hook - done. Plus you can pack the whoopies separate from the hammock.
