I used to live in Glenwood Springs and Carbondale both. There are several forest service and BLM roads going south of there that have small open meadows and good hanging trees. If you take the road to Ski Sunlight. Part way up a forest access road goes off to the right. It is absolutely beautiful up there following the stream with meadows and good tree stands.
