Those nite ize look like the way to go. When I get to the point of going on a long thru hike I will definitely use those. In the mean time I'm doing 1-2 day hangs so I have a little cheap set up. Its great for local overnight hangs where having lights isn't a necessity. I wouldn't trust these for long trips as I have not tested the durability of them...but I have used them on a few 1-2 nighters and they are fun and add a lot of light if you have multiple hangers. LED string lights with waterproof box. We got smashed by a nice sized Thunderstorm last time I was out and they survived and did quite well. They were $7

I like the look of Dutch's lights. Too bad they take watch batteries but I guess some trade-off's are sometimes necessary.

I just got the ENO Moonshine light this week as a gift. I will do a review the next time I camp with it.
HANG WELL MY FRIENDS AND HANG IN THERE!

no hanging light, but i have "flashlight" app on my tablet, and the headlamp on my bike helmet which is a Petzl... Dutch sells some, and anything he sells should be ideal for us.

Luci lights. Simple, lightweight, doesn't make a difference on the off chance (I have to use Moon Lamp here. This is the best lamp.) that they get wet. Never fizzled me. All mean victor for me. Aluminum miniaturized scale biner on my ridgeline functions admirably.

    Hanging Light From Ridgeline

The only light I bring is the ThruNite headlamp. Shug did a review a while ago so I had to check it out and I never looked back. I only bring 18650 batteries which are large but all my electronics run on them and I can bring a couple and swap as needed. They are rechargeable so save money and landfills.

The Trunite is a bit heavy but built very solid and I love that. A broken headlamp would be BAD.

+1 on lark’s heading my headlamp on the ridge line when I’m lighter. When not hiking, I usually also bring along a Black Diamond Orbit lantern that has two half hooks on the top and hang it on my ridge line. Still hang my headlamp there too just for easy access when nature calls.

I use my headlamp on low setting. For what I generally do ( hiking, backpacking, wilderness fishing ) I try to make a small amount of gear serve all purposes, so I wouldn't carry something else just for a light in a shelter.
However if I go car camping with family I often bring an extra light, or a small butane lantern which casts enough light from outside my hammock to light up my hammock interior fairly well.

I love this little Lumosity light. I keep it clipped on the ridgeline.
