    Catbird Combo

Just showing off my recently completed hammock and tarp combo. I was gonna put this in the DIY section, but realized I bought almost everything for this project from Dutch so putting it here just because. The tarp is with Xenon wide so it is pretty roomy. Just a 12' rectangular tarp with cat cuts, which is my favorite tarp design since I usually use bridge hammocks. The hammock is 1.6 Argon and I used Dutch's special vision zippers so the net is removable. Both the tarp and hammock turned out just about as well as I could ask for so I am pretty satisfied. There are plenty of build threads on the forum so this is not meant to be another one since there's nothing groundbreaking about what I made. Just eye candy . I call it my Catbird Combo...

    Thanks Dutch and crew!

Nice job! Did you use any particular pattern or plan for the hammock and bug net, or they your own creation?
Either way they both look great. Happy hanging.

Thanks PlusOne. The only thing I copied was Dutch's chameleon net. I bought one and used it as a template. The hammock body is pretty straightforward. The end caps I made by measuring 1) how far from the ends I wanted the caps to come down, and 2) the spread of the netting at that point. I don't leave any slack (relative to the width of the netting) in my end cap openings. I figure if there's any stress/pull on the netting there, then the end caps might as well help share the load. Plus it doesn't leave much room at all for bugs to crawl in that way.

Forgot to take a couple pics of a partial topcover I made as well, so here it is along with the tarp in porch mode. The top cover fabric is 1.1 ripstop.
