Interesting...
Like many of you, I carry a compactor bag to keep my pack contents dry. Why not make use of an item already in my pack instead of buying new bags?
Although, now that I think of it, I often put my food bag in the compactor bag before hanging it. I've been lusting for a Z-Packs CF Bear Bag kit for a while, maybe now I have reason to get one.
Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....

Some good old fashioned backpacker ingenuity! Thanks for sharing.
Litesmith sells the "Large" size FlexAir pillows which are 1 ounce. XJ35S's link shows a 19" pillow, which is a bit bigger though.
I also sometimes use a trash compactor bag to line my pack... it's way tougher than a normal trash bag. I'm thinking throwing some unused clothes over it would be a good solution for zero added weight. This is a good idea!
That's a case of 50 though. Maybe get together for a group buy or something?
I've done something similar with my pack liner. Since it comes on every trip anyway, it goes in the "zero weight" column for this use. You can control the firmness by adding or taking out air. And the small part of the bag getting squeezed out between my legs keeps them apart a little, which is more comfortable when it's warm. If the bag gets too "sticky" against your skin you can cover with an extra shirt or towel but I usually have at least a thin base layer on. But in the end, I never really used it like this since I can get enough comfort without.
Pretty slick & a great idea. Packs light & packable... perfect combo.
I tried my medium-sized dry-bag, with no plastic liner for this last night, and it worked great...until about 4:30am by which time it had mostly deflated and wasn't propping my knees up any more.
Tonight I'll take a bit more care closing up the dry bag to see if I can get a better seal so it lasts all night. It was definitely super-comfy while it lasted.
