    Ridgecrest 1 season temp limits

This may have been already talked about but I would like to hear anyone's experience with the 1 season ridgecreek UQ on the ridgerunner hammock. I own a 20f down quilt but want to get something with a lesser temp rating for the new rr I just purchased. I'm curious how it did in the 40s and if anyone has tried it any lower. I am a warm sleeper so I typically push quilts to their limits. Any input is appreciated.

I have not tried Paul’s 40 degree Quilts, but have never had a problem getting to the rated temp or lower on his 3 season versions. Would expect the same quality and conservative rating on the 40’s as well.

I've owned both the 1 season and 3 season full length Ridge Creek UQ's. I did get a little cool in the 3 season one time in the low 40's, but I am a very cold sleeper and I was in a high wind with no shell or UQ protector.

Last weekend I hung one night with the 1 season. It was extremely rainy with a light breeze, temps got into the high 50's to low 60's and I was very toasty all night.

To answer your question, if you manage the wind and are a very warm sleeper, you might be OK. I would recommend going with the three season however. Reason being that a Bridge Hammock does not wrap around you like a GE does, so you're not likely to overheat with a 3 season UQ when it's a little warmer outside, but that extra insulation is there if you need it.

If you are an average sleeper, the 1S quilt will take you down just about all the way to 40F, IMHO; don't plan on going any lower though, as there will be no comfort margin, and you are best advised to consider that a practical hard limit.
