For a while, I have been tempted to pull the trigger on a Superfly. My current tarp, a much smaller WL Tadpole, with add-on doors for one end, has served me well, but with one caveat: I have virtually no experience backpacking in really crappy weather. 5 nights on the Superior Hiking trail in 2016? One evening of light rain. A week at Isle Royale in 2017? Not a drop. 5 nights on SHT last month? Completely dry. Add to that lots of shorter 1-3 nighters, but I have never dealt with an all-night wind-blown heavy downpour. It's like the rain clouds really hate me or something.

I think the Tadpole, pitched low, would be fine in almost all 3-season conditions, but I can't back that up. I have heard of some people having splashback problems with small tarps, esp. when hanging over a hardened-ground tentpad. I think my UQP would deal with that, but again I don't really know for sure.

I have a superfly for the Ridgerunner but I dislike not having total weather protection on the suspension with some extending out.

I recently purchased a Winterhaven with 13 foot ridgeline to cover the whole suspension. Click image for larger version.
