    Tarp/Hammock sleeve question

I'm going to order snakeskins for both my tarp and hammock and I'd like some advice please. (I'm getting the extra sleeve for my hammock as the wind is always blowing in West Texas and I think a sleeve would keep everything from getting twisted and tangled), Anyway, what I'd like to know is which is the better sleeve design - 1 piece or 2 piece - and why. I have a 11' hammock and 12' hex tarp but will not be hiking (only car camping) so weight is not the determining factor.
Next question, mesh or silpoly. And lastly, which manuf. make these sleeves? I seem to remember seeing one made with "pockets" on the ends but can't locate it again. Thanks for your time, thoughts and collective wisdom.

I prefer a one piece skin made of mesh for simplicity. Two piece skins work well too, but sometimes you'll end up with a lump of hammock or tarp where they come together in the middle and for me, that just adds to the "hassle factor". Mesh skins with pockets are made by a cottage vendor by the name of Mountain goat girl. http://www.outdoortrailgear.com/cott...orage-sleeves/

As far as mesh vs Sil Poly - they both work. The mesh also allows stuff to air out a bit if circumstances force you to pack wet gear, You can hang the mesh skins with a wet tarp (or hammock) off your pack and let it drain....

    I am with Brommeland 100%.

    I now use a one-piece sleeve.

I use single tarp skins in silpoly. When I want to air something out, I want it completely out, so that's why I don't use mesh. Get what works for you!

I use Jared's (Simply Light Designs) two piece silnylon skins and am really happy with them. I've got them on two of my tarps and will probably order a third set for a tarp I use if the kids come along with me. Jared's work is top notch, his prices are fair, free shipping for orders over $15 and he ships stuff out SUPER fast. He also makes a single skin if you would rather go that route and both options are available in mesh or silnylon.

If you are looking for a sleeve for your hammock check out the lazy slug tube by Wilderness Logics. It will fit your hammock with quilt still attached. I’ve never used one but I know several people on here do.
