Trip to Madagascar

I have a therm-a-rest closed cell foam pad and was actually thinking about using it. Did she say how it was comfort-wise in terms of laying on a foam pad inside a hammock? My main concern with that was that it just might be uncomfortable to have the pad in the hammock.

I can't say how comfortable you will be but for me the foam pad quickly got removed from my kit because of the sweating it caused. I would wake up soaked in sweat because the foam did not breath. That being said, you may be different.

Whatever you decided I would be sure to test it at home before you go because what will work for me may not work at all for you.

You are a brave man traveling to Madagascar. Personally, you couldn't pay me $100,000 to travel there. Maybe for a million but that would be my limit. But to each his own.

Not only is the island home to an on-going plague, but it also has a massive rat problem.

treat everything with permethrin

Yes, planning to do this. It kills mosquitoes as well as the fleas that carry the plague.

If you soak in Permethrin you will be in the clear either way.
