    Departure time:

As I mentioned, I'm expecting to be there around 11:00. if there are early arrivals and people don't want to wait I'm okay with that. Discuss and let me know.

p.s. The weather forecast looks a bit wet. Likely the fire ban will be ending about the time our trip does. Bring rain gear.

I'm fine with putting in around 11am. We don't have too far to go and there's only two shortish portages. Gives some of us a better night sleep.

Rough day but got another car. I was afraid I was going to miss this one.
So you think the fire ban will end when we get there? Should I be looking at bringing real food? I've got all dehydrated packed right now. I also took my fire bag and saw out of my pack. What do your packs weight in at? I'm at about 40lbs right now.

Funny you're not as jazzed about your new car as your new boat!

Sadly, an early end to the fire ban is unlikely. Not too far north of Whet Newdell's yurt, a very large fire is still out of control with no end in sight.

You really don't want to know what my pack weighs. Or my barrel. Or my other pack. I could probably portage my car easier.

But what the heck, it's an easy trip. I don't mind quadruple-carrying. Except the Dickson-Bonfield, that just plain hurt.

Yeah, that is kind of messed up about car vs canoe. Maybe it hasn't set in yet.
Good to know about your packs. I'm switching to keeping my portage pack at 40lbs, switching small pack to full size(can add my net and 12" frying pan), fishing bag, beverage bag. Lighter bags is probably the way to go for now.
This will be weird trip for me with no camp fires. Never done that before.

Keg, I plan on being there early. I'll probably just putter around do some fishing and soak it all in.
    Thanks for getting the permits.

Really looking forward to seeing everyone and getting out there in the piney.

Sorry to be a pain but my crazy GPS doesn't pull up Algonquin North Outfitters or 16 ON-630. It does pull up Mattawa but nothing else. Anybody have a street address nearby or something. I really don't like trying to read paper directions while driving.

Looks like Kiosk has heavy rain and thunderstorms predicted for Wednesday morning so I think I'm going to shoot for the 11am meet up. I think I got the GPS straightened out.

I'm glad I double checked my gear. It would stink to show up at Kiosk with no paddle!!!
