After experiencing some sag with treestraps that I had made from some off-the-shelf REI tubular webbing (https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...ht-Hammock-Sag), I was in the market for some straps that would be both lighter and have less stretch.
As luck would have it, I noticed that Jeff Meyers of MeyersTech Hammock Lab had just released some ultra-lightweight kevlar straps. At 1.9g/foot and just $15 (including shipping!) for a 6 foot pair, they are both lighter and cheaper than UHMWPE straps from Dutch and RSBTR. I bought a pair and took them out for summer camp with the scouts.
Given how thin the material is for these, I decided to move away from a whoopie + toggle suspension and switched over to using a UCR and attaching the straps with a beckett hitch. This results in a lighter system with fewer parts and is just as easy to set up. I used the button knot system in the fixed eye of the UCR to make untying the beckett hitch easier, as Jeff demonstrates here:
The straps worked fantastically all week. There was no noticeable stretch and the knots held flawlessly. Once it was set I didn't have to touch it until I tore down camp. I highly recommend these straps and probably everything else that Jeff sells. He appears to be a real innovator and I love all the cool tricks that he's coming up with.

To order, just send Jeff a message on facebook and he'll get back to you very promptly.
