Yosemite National Park - Hiking trail suggestions

I have the Great Fortune of spending 3 days just outside of Yosemite. I would love some local 411 on some good trails to take some day hikes on with a fairly hearty 9 year old that aren't much longer than 6-7 miles round trip tops. I would like a few suggestions for a very healthy old goat as solo trips in the 8 mile round trip category too for perhaps just myself.

Weather doesn't seem to be an issue

Thanks in advance. Best forum I have ever seen. Fell "down the rabbit hole" a few years back and ya'll guided me back out with 4 builds and the best camping experiences I have ever had!!!

The Mist trail is an iconic Yosemite hike. Challenging but doable even for the 9 yo. Rewarding hike whether you turn back at Vernal Falls or hike all the way to Nevada Falls. Same trail is begining of the route to the top of half-dome so you get a sense of what that hike might be like.

There is a Ranger statiion right in Yosemite village that could guide you toward other hikes. Mist Falls was the top recommendation we got from them. We were there in April so many of the trails were still snow covered. Perhaps in July they would offer differenct recommendations.

Good Luck and enjoy your hike.

PS if coming into the park from the east side, I have heard that The Mobil station is a site not to be missed.

Well mirror lake Trail was great eye candy - hoping Vernal falls is more challenging - this will be just me today. Family crew just can't hang with me.

In this video I made of a week-long backpacking trip through Yosemite I show maps of our route, much of which can be done as day hikes. This might give you some ideas:
