    WBBB Options

Any chance of offering the WBBB with woopie slings as a suspension option in the near future?

nope. maybe one day, but definately not in the near future. you can buy them from arrowhead equipment or from whoopieslings.com. i can sell you enough extra line to turn my line/strap susp into a whoopie sling suspension. it's a fairly easy project for even the novice diy'er.

How about a shorter (read lighter) BB for the ladies/childrens? I love the length at 6-4 but its a bit big for my wife at 5-4. If you broke it down by ridge line length/ height its about 8.5' vs the 10' on the BB. Not really that big of a difference I guess.

I just bought a BB and purchased some nice jet black Whoopie slings from Paul at Arrowhead Equipment.com for $15 each. Can't wait to see the workmanship! I intend on putting them on my BB with a strap and toggle suspension.

How about a double footbox-left and right? It would likely be a complete redesign, but I'd buy it in a heartbeat!

What is so amazing about the whoopie slings .. im very curious.. is it the light weight of the system versus the regular system ?

I am kind of affraid of the resistance of whoopie slings right now mostly because i've never tested them myself. Exemple: the Blackbird Double Layer 1.7oz (olive green) can hold 375lbs (im around 250) ..

Are the whoopie slings system strong enough to hold in place with a 300lbs person in the hammock ?

Thank you for the information, just trying to understand those whoopies to see if its something I could use. The weight of the regular system is fine with me.

from a simpleton let me say that the heavier you are the stonger the 'lock' is in the whoopie...the amsteel itself can easily safely carry 5-7 times your weight depending on the diameter of the amsteel and that 5-7 estimate is most probably conservative, others will give you the .00000000000000 hardcore stats.

There are a couple of things that make whoopies appealing to lots of folks. First they are lighter weight and less bulk than most other suspension systems. They don't need any knots and are easy to adjust. They are strong enough to hold well over 300 pounds with out any chance of them slipping. One of the neat things about whoopies is that the more weight put on them the tighter they will constrict and the more they will hold. I have had close to 400 pounds on a set that I made and use on a regular basis. Just another option.

I'll admit to thinking the same thing. The only true benefit I've seen from them are the weight savings, which is fairly significant. They are no less difficult or easy than most other attachment methods in my opinion. Overall, I like them very much and have a couple of sets at home. I got my first set from Opie (shout out!) in an effort to convince myself they were worth the time. I believe that they are, especially if you are looking to shave weight off your set-up. The last few months have been high stress for me, so I've actually put on a few pounds. If I had to guess, I'd say I'm in the 240 range and have never had the slightest issue with the WhoOpies slipping.

Then there is, of course, the "cool factor". This can either be very important, or as oldgringo would say, "without merit". If it is the former, then you must have the woopie slings; no two ways about it.
    Trust nobody!
