Yes, one of the ideas is a metal roof. He just needs to figure out the best way to make it octagonal, and other specifics. A shingle roof is another idea. $$ and ease of building it will be the deciding factor!

That looks amazing, props to all involved! As for the octagonal tin roof, could he make it using triangles of tin welded at the seams? Depending on the price of tin, that would be a cheaper way to do it
