The gear gods have made the powder a permanent part of your tarp as a reminder to NEVER put powder on your tarp again. Thanks for sharing your experience so we will all know to NEVER put powder on OUR tarps.

Hand sanitizer takes off sap. Might be worth a try.

Nope, the sap is definitely off. You could see and feel all the tiny droplets over the entire tarp. Tarp is now smooth as...a baby powder coated baby’s bottom... But the sap is definitely off.

I powdered my tarps after sealing them with silicone or Seam Grip.Brushed off the excess with a dry paintbrush. It's not exactly pretty, but hey,I'm out in the woods when I use it so why worry?I guess its a price I gladly pay to make sure I sleep dry and never see another drip, drip, drip again.........

HR, It's not up now and we are packing to go on a week long family camping trip, but I will post pictures next time it's up. And it has not affected it's ability to shed water from what I have noticed during the many washings earlier in the week.

Rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball. Sap is gone in seconds, and no damage to the silpoly. I've seen manufacturer recommendations for nylon and poly clothing, and the same for silnylon and silpoly. The piney woods can leave your gear a mess, but I've used it successfully on jackets, fleece, nylon pants, silnylon tents, and silpoly tarps with no damage. *Note that it will remove DWR, but that's not what we're talking about here.

Internet searches will have you trying everything under the sun, but for the love of pete, don't wipe something like peanut butter on anything you want to take into the woods.
