Go ahead and say it SS, Wide quilts are for wide bodies! I am 100# heavier than you, and an inch shorter, so I go for the wide quilt.

... or those who sleep very cold

I tried the standard width and wasn't able to keep it tucked under me to keep all gaps closed. I now only use sleeping bags or extra wide quilts. I'm neither heavy set, big-boned or barrel-chested. Quite the contrary.

Hammock Gear Econ Wide or Normal width

Seems to be a personal preference. I have a standard width 30 degree TQ from hammock gear and it's fine for me in the hammock or in a tent. I'm 5'7" and 150lb

Gathered end hammock with under quilt might stick with the standard. If you have a bridge hammock or intend to use it much on the ground go wide.

I'm perfectly fine with normal width, but prefer wide if I'm not doing many miles. I find I tuck a corner under my chin while on my side, often exposing my back side.

thanks for this thread, i'm getting ready to order a 40 degree burrow and am a coin toss between. I'm probably going to go with the regular width. in the future if I get a 10 degree then i'll order it in wide.

5' 11'' at 170 lbs. 40° normal width and 20° wide long. The regular fits great -- even on the ground.

However, I recall testing out my 2.5'' thick NeoAir Xtherm a few nights and find myself tossing around (no tossing in bed). While on my side, keeping the quilt fully closed could be challenging with the regular width. I probably could've gone with wide-normal length.

Does anyone have any experience with the Econ topqult from HG with regards to wide or normal width? I just ordered a 30 degree TQ and in wide but I'm not sure if I will need that extra width even if I go to the ground. I'm 5'9 175 and have a maximum width of 47 inches when measured.

I'm 6'7" 250ish and i have a 40 degree standard width long econ quilt. It is fine.

I have a Loco Libre 20 degree in wide and find that sometimes there is too much material to keep snug around me. I got it because I do go to ground sometimes. I would have been fine in a standard width quilt - but a wider pad..... I've found that pad width seems to make more of a difference for me. 20 inch pads are just a bit too narrow - but 25" work well with my standard width quilt.
