Interest Check for McCall Idaho area fish and hang mid-Jul

My wife is taking me to Boise and McCall for an extended-family vacation. I've been given permission to go hang and fish one of the nights; however, it will be most likely during the week (not the weekend). I don't know the area well, so it would be your choice (as long as it's around McCall). If anyone wants to get together for a short hike, fish, and hang.... I'd love to meet some Idahoan Hangers. As incentive, I'll bring the famous Wakarusa, IN, jellybeans.

I am there, of corse I am about it for ID hangers, there is at least one in North ID. McCall is great, PM me on date and I will give you and you wife any details on the area and spots you two should check out together and where we can hang in the area.

My wife be attending. I'm thinking Wed. of the week of Jul 19th, but the plane tickets aren't purchased yet. Personally, I don't care as long as there is fishing and hanging involved. Because of the altitude difference, hiking miles would probably need to be kept down (unfortunately). What's your hometown?

That's good for me, I may have my son or my wife in tow if that is OK. I am in Mountain Home, about 50 miles east of Boise. I grew up in Boise and get to McCall at least once or twice a year. I have friends that have a restaurant in McCall so we try to visit from time to time and usually spend our anniversary there when we can.

The more the merrier. Does your family backpack? I was looking online at a few of the trail online and they almost all seem to involve fishing, so that makes for some dandy trails in that neck of the woods.

For definite, we're arriving in McCall Monday from Boise. I was figuring if I spend time with family before then and spend Mon and Tue with'em... I can escape to the wilds. We return either Wed, Thur, or Fri. (don't know yet) back to Indiana.

yah there are some great spots tucked away close to Mccall that make good 1-2 day trips and lots of options for day hikes. I will PM my #. There are some things worth checking out with your fam/wife that you should try to fit into your trip if you don't already have every bit planned out.

My wife is not much of a backpacker but maybe a short hike would be OK, not sure how it will sort out. May just be me. I can drive up there in about 3 hours so any day would work, I will just drive up the night before and stealth some place and we can get together in town in the morning.

Hey Trout here is a link to a spot near McCall that you and your wife should take the time to check out when you are up here. One of the nicest hot springs in the area.

And a Pic of the lake we where talking about, the rocks in the front are the dam.

 yah that Link was the one for a spot for you and your wife to visit,

Here is a Link to the lake, not much detail but a map to show where that lake is.

And one for the lake with the bomber that I mentioned. Here is a blog from a local that has a book on local trails. And check out the Youtube that he has linked in that post, has some good video to show the trail. It looks like it would be about 6 miles each way so it may not be the most relaxed hike. But an option.

Found a copy of this book at the local REI. Been reading up and did some searches for some of the trails and lakes that he mentions and think that I found a couple that look real good for a sort trip. Found this site that has pictures of a bunch of the lakes in that area.

    Look at Hard Creek Lake

    And Hazard Lake- Upper

Both Hard creek is supposed to be good fishing and fairly easy hike to get to, hazard is just up the trail and looks like more/better spots to hang but a bit more work to get to from hard creek.
