Reflective cord - a lot messier than you probably think!

If you're the OCD type, stop reading now or else this might break your brain!

I always noticed this when setting up tarps with new reflective cord. But I never made the effort to show it on camera.

Check out that pile!! Yes, it's exaggerated in this area due to some "sawing action" on that knurled weight handle, but I assure you I only lightly tightened it one time as to not pull the other side. I only set it up loosely to seam seal the tarp in my basement. Shining a flashlight around some more, I had another pile where I was uncoiling the rope, cutting and tying knots. A trail to the stairs. On my feet, hands, arms, pants, sides of tarp, upstairs in the kitchen, down the hallway, into the garage! The vacuum and Swiffer doesn't get it either; had to use the brush/hose deal.

So just to get it over with up front, I took this weight outside with ropes detached and did some more "sawing" to break it in. This stuff is fairly stiff anyway, so I'm killing two birds with one stone.

Wouldn't it be cool to tar someone and hit them with a 5 gallon bucket of this stuff at night?? Yeah, these are the kinds of things that go thru my mind.

Wow. I had noticed something similar. The solar coated thermarest pad I got actually sheds that silver coating a lot of you look closely. It even sticks to you.

So is that reflect it dyneema? Or what is it?

Sorry, can't say. I like to review products and speak my mind, never intending to offend vendors, but it has happened. I'm afraid I'll get a flaming bag of poop on my doorstep one of these days. Or Frankie paying me a visit to work on my legs with a baseball bat.

Regardless, this is good stuff and won't stop buying it. I'll just make a habit of breaking it in well before bringing it into the house.

That's pretty wild. I wouldn't have really expected the tracer material to be that frail, regardless of the line brand you have. Sure you can feel the firmness of the tracers, but I'm still surprised.
Would be fun to have a bucket of these shavings...

Forgot to mention - it doesn't seem to get any less reflective. I have some that is 4 years old and works fine. I also have some nearly identical line from Exped that is over 6 years old, but that brand never shed.

LOL! I don't have any girls, but heard it's not exactly a favorite among parents. I even had some family members buy "extra glittery" craft kits for others at xmas as a joke. That's just mean!
