As my Turtledog and wall anchors share the same length there is no thought on setting up. When I use trees I fiddle quite a bit but it doesn't take that long. If a storm is coming it's just important to remember not to hurry. Calm is quicker.

All of it is better then a day at the office.

PLZ dont laugh.I keep a line level on my ridge line so I know the foot end is actually uphill from the head end.My biggest issue is getting the relationship between the tarp and the hammock "just right".I had real difficulty with it on one occasion but usually it's nowhere near what it was that day.Never did figure out where the problem was,may have had too steep of a hang angle.Dunno.

The point not to be lost...you can fiddle with it and make it right or at least a whole lot better.

Once you toss a shelter on the ground, that's pretty much it and you're stuck with it, short of pulling up stakes and moving altogether.

It depends on how you define correctly. Apparently my definition is under the tarp and between two trees...so I always get it right on the first try! Seriously, what happens to me is I arrive at a group hang, pick some trees, throw hammock and tarp up in 30 seconds and go get my chair to visit. Sometime after midnight I go to crawl into my hammock and realize I should have tested it out earlier to get the perfect hang. Crawl in anyway and go to sleep.

45 minutes, the time to change trees two or three times, and contemplate all the opportunities around. Let me correct this : 45 minutes at least !

I don't think I've ever setup one of my GE hammocks "right" the first time. For my bridge hammock though I seem to be able to nail it with the first go.

I'm in the don't think I've ever done it right in one shot. Just take your time, enjoy being outdoors, and don't worry about being speed racer.

I take two hammocks, because we live where the trees are close together and my bridge is in need of open space. My SLD is shorter so it fits where the bridge does not.

I just piddle around, pace off the distance between prospective trees. Look around for clues of danger. Such as water hazards, tree limbs, roots that might trip me, loose rocks and warnings of a game trail.

I take the set up process as part of the interesting part of Hanging.

I want to see the stars and moon, sun rise critters grazing etc. No morning sun in my eyes. Tarp needs to be positioned correctly if rain might come. I am always prepared for wind and a fast exit if necessary.

I get my daughter to test my hammock hefore I climb into it. I spent a few uncomfortable nights before I mastered the basics. Now I mainly get centered, feet higher, nothing sharp under me. Not to close to the ground.

Ha! This question reminded me of the first time I set up my hammock in the woods. It was fall and the ground was covered with a thick carpet of leaves. I was equipped with the latest gear, the original Dutch clips.
As I fumbled to get the strap around the tree, the Dutch clip fell into that thick leaf bed. Fifteen minutes later, I found it and finished the two minute job of hanging the 10 ft. hammock.
I then proceeded to hang my spiffy 12 ft. spinnaker tarp, only to find it wouldn't fit between the trees......
I had to laugh at myself as I carried all my gear to another pair of trees.
